Indian BPO companies increase hiring in global financial gloom
October 14, 2008
Indian IT companies reduced their hiring phase due to international financial crisis, but the pure Indian BPO Companies are planning to increase their hiring, hoping that they will get more business from US and other western companies.
- Infosys is planning to hire 10,000 fewer employees in 2009 compared to 2008
- TCS told that it is also planning to hire fewer employees for 2009
- UK’s BPO Capita is planning to hire 1,000 in the next 12 months for their Indian operation.
- US based Convergys planning to hire 2,500 more employees.
- US based Aricent planning to increase their employee count by 10% with strong emphasis on India.
- Infovision is planning to hire 5,000 employees.
The Valuenotes Database study indicates that Indian BPO firms will increase their employees from 140K to 540K.
Indian BPO companies believe that once the dust settles in the global financial market, western companies will use more offshore resources to cut cost and increase their value. They also feel that during economy slow-down companies may cut their IT discretionary spending but will not cut their essential BPO services which are important to run their daily business operations.
